Fashion Institute of Technology Offers Seven Programs of Graduate Study

The Fashion Institute of Technology offers seven programs of graduate study leading to the Master of Arts (M.A.), Master of Fine Arts, (M.F.A.) and Master of Professional Studies (M.P.S.) degrees. The programs in Art Market: Principles and Practices; Exhibition Design; Fashion and Textile Studies: History, Theory, Museum Practice; and Sustainable Interior Environments lead to the M.A. degree. The M.F.A. program is Illustration. The M.P.S. programs are Cosmetics and Fragrance Marketing and Management and Global Fashion Management.

Master of Arts Programs at the Fashion Institute of Technology

FIT's programs include the Master of Arts (M.A.) in Art Market: Principles and Practices; Exhibition Design; Fashion and Textile Studies: History, Theory, Museum Practice; and Sustainable Interior Environments. These programs provide students with practical, hands-on skills as well as knowledge of historical scholarship. Graduate faculty members are seasoned professionals in the art world and include expert curators, dealers, designers, artists, conservators, and historians. FIT M.A. students are provided with supplementary education through guest lectures and in-depth tours of artists' studios, auction houses, conservation labs, historic houses, museums, and gallery tours.

Master of Fine Arts Program at Fashion Institute of Technology

FIT's programs include the Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A.) in Illustration. Students graduate with a personal vision, an entrepreneurial spirit, and the skills needed to succeed as freelance illustrators in a changing marketplace.

Master of Professional Studies Programs at Fashion Institute of Technology

Two Master of Professional Studies (M.P.S.) degrees are available at FIT: the M.P.S. in Cosmetics and Fragrance Marketing and Management and the M.P.S. in Global Fashion Management. These programs focus on honing their students' skills in specialized areas so that they can be successful in these highly competitive fields. Curricula are tailored to provide the advanced education necessary for professionals in the industry.

Financial Aid at FIT

FIT directly administers its institutional grants, scholarships, and loans. Federal funding administered by the college may include Federal Perkins Loans, federally subsidized and unsubsidized Direct Loans for students, Grad PLUS loans, and the Federal Work-Study Program. Priority for institutionally administered funds is given to students enrolled and designated as full-time.

FIT's Campus and Housing Opportunities

The Fashion Institute of Technology campus is located in Manhattan's Chelsea neighborhood in New York City. The area is filled with cafes, boutiques, theaters, restaurants, museums, and galleries. There are four residence halls on campus, each equipped with ethernet connections; Coed Hall, Nagler Hall, Alumni Hall, and George S. and Mariana Kaufman Residence Hall. Assistance with finding off-campus housing is also available.
