The College of Nursing and Health Sciences (CNHS) at Florida International University (FIU) enrolls over 1,800 students in 6 key disciplines: athletic training, communication sciences and disorders, health services administration, nursing, occupational therapy, and physical therapy. CNHS programs are designed to prepare diverse healthcare professionals for careers as leaders who are capable of meeting the ever-growing demands of the healthcare landscape. The CNHS student body reflects the cultural diversity of the southern Florida region, with nearly 80% of students coming from Hispanic, Asian, and African-American backgrounds.

The Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from CNHS

CNHS offers a Master of Science (MS) in Speech-Language Pathology that provides a unique focus on Cultural and Linguistic Diversity (CLD) and bilingualism while addressing the evaluation, treatment, and research in communication and speech disorders. Graduates of the program are prepared to work with bilingual populations and will have critical advantages as the nation's minority population continues to grow.

The MS program provides students with the theoretical knowledge and clinical skills that allows them to work with people who exhibit communication differences and disorders in a variety of settings, including clinics, hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and schools. In addition to coursework, students are required to complete 4 clinical practicum courses that provide real-world, supervised experience.

Prerequisites to the program may be completed through the Certificate in Speech Language Pathology before application to the graduate school. Graduates of the MS program have met all requirements for the certificate of clinical competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. The master's program boasts a 100% graduate employment rate.
