The Master's Degree Program in Marketing and Export Management

Students can strengthen their management and leadership skills as they relate to the value-added exporting of U.S. manufactured products, services, and technology.

The Master of Science in Marketing and Export Management degree program (MSXM) is a technology-oriented leadership program designed to meet the needs of engineers, business managers, and other professional and technical persons. The MSXM emphasizes practical knowledge as a critical means to supplement a base of required objective skills. Graduates of the program will possess the broad range of knowledge and skills necessary for senior management or entrepreneurial positions in a wide range of industries.

Program Details

The MSXM degree program is based upon the philosophy that for organizations to compete in the increasingly intercontinental marketplace their managers need a deep understanding of global business practices. This knowledge will enable them to envision, design, create, sell and maintain products and services that add value to a broad base of humanity living and working in environments as diverse as the individuals themselves.

Faculty members in the MSXM degree program have extensive knowledge and first-hand experience with the global business environment and international markets. Most are employed in the discipline(s) they teach, and most have Ph.D. degrees.

MSOE follows an academic quarter system. The 45 quarter credits required in this program equate to approximately 30 semester credits of contact and class time.

Students enrolled in the Master of Science in Marketing and Export Management degree program at MSOE receive a practical, applied, professional graduate education that allows them to immediately apply new knowledge to work challenges both during the program and at program completion. Graduate program alumni show high career achievement, and move into many leadership positions that range from Chief Executive Officer to Project Manager. A longitudinal study of mid-career MSOE graduates shows that they continue to outperform their cohorts in both salary and job satisfaction.

Professors share their experience and expertise in the classroom, and also help students apply new learning to address business problems during class-related field projects. The close relationships between MSOE faculty members and regional industry help maintain a current, relevant curriculum, while providing a "living laboratory" in which students apply new skills and knowledge.

In addition to significant industry experience, the majority of MSOE graduate faculty members hold doctoral degrees in specialized fields of study that enhance their ability to share information in the classroom.
