Notre Dame de Namur University (NDNU) is a private, independent, coeducational Catholic university located in California on the San Francisco peninsula in Silicon Valley. Established in 1851, the university offers programs for working adults to complete their bachelor's, master's , or credentials in the evening, as well as a full-time day undergraduate program.

As a Master's University dedicated to higher learning, NDNU is proud to deliver good value, innovative faculty mentorship, extensive professional networks and a diverse population. The San Francisco Bay Area's successful business leaders, educators, artists and community organizers choose to build their professional skills and develop their careers through NDNU.

NDNU recently launched 3 online master's programs to offer students the choice of on-campus or online classes.. The current student population is made up of approximately 2,000 students from 28 states and 23 different countries.

School of Business and Management Graduate Degree Overview

The School of Business and Management at Notre Dame de Namur University offers 3 graduate degrees: Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Public Administration (MPA), and Master of Science in Management (MSM).

NDNU's professional business programs mirror the fast pace and global reach of today's corporate environment. Business faculty members from diverse backgrounds encourage students to explore innovations in business, public administration, and technology. Some classes blend online with in-class learning, and 2 programs are now offered fully online.

MBA students gain professional critical decision-making, global business management,and leadership skills -- essential for success in business.

MPA students gain a unique blend of business, management, and human resource skills to work effectively in management positions within public, non-profit, and services related organizations.

The MSM program focuses on developing skills for managing global teams, projects, programs, and sustainable systems.

Each of these educational degree programs encourages professional, social, and personal breakthroughs in discovering new ways of thinking. Students quickly absorb the lessons and tools needed for success. Online programs are available for the MPA and MSM degrees. A certificate in Human Resource Management program is offered at the NDNU campus.

Master of Business Administration

The Master of Business Administration degree program at Notre Dame de Namur University emphasizes broad study in functional areas of business administration and concentrated study in the fields of finance, marketing, human resources, technology and operations management, entrepreneurship, and media and promotion. Students also develop thorough understandings of social and political factors as well as standard business, management, and human resource management principles.

Courses examine interpersonal communication, critical decision making, ethical business practices, knowledge management, group organization and development, global business management, and leadership. Students in the MBA program may also take courses in other NDNU graduate programs and customize interdisciplinary coursework to their desired business specialties.

The MBA curriculum leverages case studies and learning laboratory processes and methodologies, giving students opportunities to assess environmental issues, formulate strategy, and build programs that add value to organizations.

Master of Public Administration

The Master of Public Administration degree program at Notre Dame de Namur University prepares professionals to work effectively in management positions within public, non-profit, and service-related organizations.

Coursework emphasizes broad study in functional areas of public administration and concentrated study in the fields of public affairs administration, human resources management, and social enterprise. Students gain thorough understandings of the impact of social and political factors on today's global business environment.

In addition, they develop knowledge and skills in the following areas: interpersonal communications, organizational leadership and team building, assessment and analysis of quantitative information, strategic thinking, and working in diverse cultures. The curriculum is flexible, allowing students to take courses in other NDNU graduate programs and customize interdisciplinary programs of study as areas of emphasis.

Master of Science in Management

The Master of Science in Management degree program at Notre Dame de Namur University is designed to help working professionals advance their careers in organizations with team, project, and program management responsibilities. Students in the program are immediately able to apply what they learn to real world challenges, producing high-quality analyses as evidence of professional management capabilities.

Courses emphasize leadership, collaborative work, virtual team processes, and professional communication. Students learn to use broad-based tools and perspectives of systems management to develop strategic skills, knowledge, values, and philosophy to become creative, effective global managers of people, projects, and sustainable systems.

Focus of the curriculum includes the critical areas of systems thinking, individual and team management, social capital, forecasting, optimization, decision support, organizational learning and knowledge management, systems finance, and project analysis and management. Students develop their coursework and capstone experiences to best meet their individual management interests, and are able to combine other NDNU graduate courses into their programs.

Human Resource Management Certificate

The Human Resources Management Certificate program was developed for working individuals interested in careers in human resources who want to learn how to manage employees effectively, and for senior managers who want to expand their understanding of the role of HR so they can create and monitor effective HR programs. The program is taught over 4 Saturdays with 1-week breaks in between classes. A student can register for an additional 2-week session to receive an International Human Resource Management Certificate.

NDNU's Silicon Valley location serves as an educational convergence of current and future business practices in the Bay Area, enabling the program to attract high-caliber, experienced faculty members who work closely with graduate students as educators, advisers, and mentors for the duration of their studies.
