The Lally M.B.A.

Lally M.B.A. program students share a passion for technology and are looking to integrate management skills into their already strong skill sets.

Lally's connection to Rensselaer's world-class technological heritage makes its M.B.A. program unique in the management of technology and the technologies of management. Building on Rensselaer's leadership in science and engineering, Lally's M.B.A. program focuses on the strategic management of technology, on leveraging technology for improved managerial decision making, and on creating value through innovation and entrepreneurship. A Lally M.B.A. provides not only a strong business foundation, but also offers much more -- a mindset of how to think in innovative ways and create value for the marketplace.

The streamlined, full-time M.B.A. program allows students to earn their M.B.A. degrees in 1 year. This intensive, accelerated program will stretch participants' imaginations and creativity, and prepare them to lead in tomorrow's business world.

Based on experiential learning, a project-based curriculum, and community and industry interaction, the Lally M.B.A. program emphasizes a partnership that will truly transform student and corporate leaders. The program offers students the opportunity to receive personalized attention while developing relevant skills such as business communication, negotiation, and team building. Students have the ability to tailor their career plans through Lally's career support services and mentoring network of community members and alumni. The strong emphasis on technology management and entrepreneurship enables students to become creative, strategic thinkers who are well-equipped to contribute to the world of business and technology.

Lally's M.S. in Management Degree Program and Concentrations

Lally offers a Master of Science (M.S.) in Management degree program to students who may have technical backgrounds and are seeking to build a foundational understanding of the world of business. Students with little to no work experience will benefit highly from this degree. As they prepare to enter the workforce in a technical field, understanding the organizational and competitive context in which they are operating will provide them with a grounded perspective to help make relevant, smart decisions, and to operate as influential contributors to their employers.

The M.S. in Management degree program is structured as 6 core courses and 4 elective courses. Electives can be grouped to form concentrations, or can be mixed across concentrations. Seven concentration areas are offered, including:

- Business analytics

- Finance

- International business

- Management information systems

- Marketing and new product development

- Supply chain management

- Technological entrepreneurship

The M.S. in Management degree program prepares students to enter the business world in which technology of any kind (eg. life sciences, material sciences, information technology, or engineering) drives competition.

Lally's integrative coursework reflects how businesses manage their innovation processes. This knowledge is applied to industry-focused classroom projects in courses such as: "Creating and Managing an Enterprise"; "Business Implications of Emerging Technologies"; "Networks, Innovation, and Value Creation"; "Design, Manufacturing, and Marketing"; "Commercializing Advanced Technology"; "Corporate Entrepreneurship"; and "Strategy, Technology and Competition." In addition, Lally offers a number of concentrations in which analytical technics are used to inform strategy and decision making.
