Biology Master's Students Choose from Among Thirteen Areas for Individualized Research Projects

USF's Master of Science in Biology program emphasizes student-faculty interaction and laboratory research. Each biology graduate student develops an individual research focus with the help of a faculty adviser. The research project includes a formal written thesis requirement, which compliments graduate-level course work and a graduate seminar. Graduate students choose from thirteen research areas, including behavioral biology, botany, cancer biology, conservation genetics, parasitology, and virology, among others.

USF Offers Full Tuition Scholarships to All Admitted Biology Graduate Students

The biology master's program at USF qualifies graduates to enter professional research positions in cutting-edge industries, teaching positions at the middle and high school levels, and to pursue further graduate study at the doctoral level. USF graduates have entered doctoral and professional programs at such prestigious institutions as Duke University, Georgetown University Medical School, and Yale University Medical School. Additionally, former USF biology graduate students have accepted positions in state governments, pharmaceutical companies, and hospitals.

The biology master's program at the University of San Francisco offers generous financial aid options to admitted graduate students. All admitted biology students receive full tuition scholarships, and the majority of students also receive teaching assistantships with stipends, with a limited number of research assistantships available as well.
