If you’re one of millions of students looking to attend or go back to college in-person this fall, you may be faced with a new mandate. Hundreds of colleges and universities across the country are requiring students to receive their COVID-19 vaccines prior to starting the 2021-22 academic year.
With roughly 73 percent of the U.S. population fully vaccinated as of August 24, 2021, vaccine hesitancy is an ongoing concern for schools, students, and the community. Many colleges and universities are implementing the vaccine mandate to help stop the spread of COVID among its students, although by law, colleges must exempt students choosing not to vaccinate for medical reasons, with religious reasons as another basis for exemption.
As of August 25, here are the colleges that are requiring vaccinations prior to in-person attendance:
