AP tests are fast approaching and we’re here to help you prepare for exam day. This article will show you test prep tips and our Top 5 AP Study Guides to help you go into test day with confidence.
You know how the old saying goes: “Fail to plan, plan to fail.” This old adage couldn’t be more true when it comes to test prep. When you create (and follow) a study plan, you set yourself up for a successful exam day. Here are some tips to help get you started on your test prep:
- Make a realistic study plan
Plan, plan, plan but don’t plan to study for hours on end each day. Break daily study sessions into smaller smaller periods and allow a little extra study time to focus on areas of weakness. Remember to take breaks to relax your mind and avoid study fatigue or burnout. - Find a comfortable place to study that works for you
Review your notes or read in a space that allows you to focus. Some people actually focus well in public spaces like cafes or libraries, but many may find crowded, busy spaces as a big distraction. If you have trouble focusing in busy areas, opt for a quiet place where you can relax and concentrate on your studies. - Take practice tests
Taking timed AP practice tests will help you prepare for and understand the types of questions that will be asked on the exam. Peterson’s full-length practice tests feature multiple choice and free response sections that test your understanding of how to answer both types of questions while giving you detailed explanations. Practice tests are an excellent way to pinpoint your strengths and weaknesses so you can improve. - Use interactive study materials
While reviewing class notes you’ve taken is a great traditional way to review the course material, utilizing interactive materials is a fun way to help memorize content. Interactive flashcards test your knowledge of key terms and definitions while promoting active brain recall which is the process of retrieving memory. Pop quizzes and instructional videos are other great tools to make learning more fun.
