Erin Trujeque Memorial Scholarship

Description

Established in 1989, the Erin Trujeque Memorial Scholarship is awarded to students who have undergone treatment for childhood cancer in New Mexico and wish to continue their education beyond high school. Erin Trujeque died of cancer in 1985 at the age of 12. School is not always easy for a child diagnosed with cancer. The Erin Trujeque Memorial Scholarship was established to assure that children who may not be eligible to receive other scholarship assistance or afford college would still be able to attend. Students must have been diagnosed with and treated for childhood cancer at a New Mexico Pediatric Oncology Treatment Facility and have an in-take form completed at time of diagnosis on file with CCFNM as well as meet the CCFNM eligibility for services criteria. Eligible applicants may receive a maximum award of eight semesters of undergraduate studies and four semesters of graduate studies. Applicants will also be required to submit a short video, expressing their gratitude for the scholarship and information about their college experience (name; when they were diagnosed with cancer; number of years receiving scholarship; school they are attending; their major and future goals). All students must reapply each academic year for an award. The first time applications for the Fall or Spring are due on March 31, 2024. The renewal applications for Fall or Spring are due on May 20, 2024. The first time or renewal applications for Spring or Summer are due on October 20, 2024. Please visit the scholarship's website for more information.
