- The Calculus CLEP test uses a scaled score based on multiple-choice questions and essay scores ranging from 20 to 80. Based on this score, the student then earns an A, B, C, or D. Letter grade conversions are typically as follows:

- B—Good level of understanding: 40 to 49
- C—Satisfactory level of understanding: 30 to 39

- There are 44 multiple-choice questions on the CLEP Calculus exam. The test is made up of two sections:
- The first section comprises 27 questions in which you cannot use a calculator. This section is approximately 50 minutes long.
- The second section of the test includes 17 questions where you can use an online graphing calculator. This section is approximately 40 minutes long and is available via the test software.
